Keeping it all together... Clinical pilates is used by physiotherapists to combine pilates techniques and equipment with movement principles from current physiotherapy research. Our body’s movement takes place around a central core – our trunk – which provides the foundation of movement. Pilates exercises effectively target the core muscles, providing strong local stability to the spine and pelvis. Multiple repetitions of slow controlled exercises, which characterise pilates movements, result in building optimum strength. Is Clinical Pilates for me?Establishing a regular pilates routine builds core strength and keeps your body strong, enabling you to cope with daily activities. After injury or surgery muscle function is compromised, causing weakness. Once the injury has been treated the muscles need to be retrained. Clinical pilates is a safe and effective technique for exercising, strengthening and restoring coordinated muscle recruitment. Clinical Pilates can assist with:• Alleviating back & neck pain • Strength, coordination & tone • Postural problems at any age • Pre/post natal conditioning • Incontinence • Fitness & wellbeing • Athletic performance How do I begin? You will need to have an individual assessment before starting pilates or joining a class. The physiotherapist will look at your movement ability, current state of wellbeing, goals etc., and together you will initiate an appropriate program. This is to prevent any injuries, and to work towards maximising your abilities in a safe, supportive and dynamic environment. Pricing*
